OK, since we're sharing stories, I'll go ahead and tell mine.

First off, I take responsibility for this one. And it may have been the only savior for the person I was aiming to seriously hurt afterwards.

I used to have a room mate that went to the same club I did. Since the club was a 45 min drive we would sometimes take turns driving to the club.

Well, my friend has a very nasty DWI on his record from the result of getting plastered and getting in a police chase with the state troopers over three counties. So, he has a blow-to-start in his Saturn. Not to mention, numerous other penalties imposed by the state. He's really not even supposed to drink. BTW, this is a grown adult of approximately 30. (notice I don't say mature adult)

Anyways, one night we went to the club. One of the first (and most important) things I told him was that I was staying in the club for a while. If he got sick or tired, I'm not leaving early just for him. He knew this.

Anyways.. to make a long story longer... sure enough around 11:30pm he complains he's not feeling well (read: drunk). So, he asked if he could go home. Of course, my answer was no. So I told him he could go sleep in the Buick (read: my mistake). I gave him the keys and told him specifically, play the radio, do not for ANY reason start the car. An hour or so passes, he comes back in and asks when I'm leaving. I told him in a little while. I come out of the club about 10 mins later and guess who's car is sitting in front of the club idling. This with about 4 or 5 county police sitting RIGHT there. If they had walked up to him for any reason and saw he was drunk, car was running and I was nowhere to be seen, imagine what would have happened. Needless to say, I was REALLY ticked. The only thing that kept me from kicking his a$$ was the fact that I had to consider I was wrong for being so stupid to give him the keys.

Don't let this happen to you!!

for anyone that drives stick....

my best friend was a valet parking attendant. But the day before he got the job he called me up and said "Tom! Im starting the job tomorrow and I have no clue how to drive stick!!" .... That night I gave him the 45 minute crash course in manual transmissions on my Trans Am. He wasnt bad, but I dunno about u guys if by some chance in hell I left my car with someone to be valeted the fact the guy has 45 minutes of stick driving experience under his belt is even WORSE!

i was a parking lot attendant in chicago for 5 years & seen all kinds of things happen: some guys would always "test" a sports car ability, sipe gas, search & steal, & take a car out for a joy-ride(they got fired too). they didnt give a dam cause they figured no one would noticed, if you do let them park your car, check your odometer, check for body damage, check your gas tank and never leave something valuble. i never take the GN out, me & the wife will go out in her LEXUS or my SS & i give the guys $5.00 to keep the car up front so it wont get used & abused. be careful cause anything can happen & the attendants will lie their asses off.

I was getting parts at a Bethesda, MD area GM dealer (they also sold and serviced exotics)

As I came out, a flat bed pulled up with a SWEET lamborghini on the back. I watched them unload it and was giving it the once over and I noticed the rotors were purple...

I asked one of the guys why it was there and they said a valet at a Bethesda restaurant, had taken it for a joy ride and did not know that the parking brake was on. He subsequently fried the clutch and all four rotors - $75,000 estimated in damage.

um..... hell no, not even my beaters.

$75,000 for a clutch and four rotors??

withe the parking break it still had enough power for the guy to drive it around and not think of it. must be nice. how stupid would you have to be to take a lambroghini somewhere and let a vallet drive it?

I was at an arena footbal game, there were some big shots there that day, john elway (owner of the crush, hes always there) caramello anthony from the nuggets, a few other prope. I looked outside down at one of the seperate parking lots and there is a bright red lambroghini mercilago setting there in the SNOW. i guess when money isnt' an object, neither are nice cars.

yeah, that got me too. He said that was the "guesstimate" with most of that being the labor @ $475/hr! The guy said they have to order the parts in from Italy. Then I remembered this was a $475,000 hand made car... and it was practically brand new at the time.

As far as letting the Valet take it, you would be surprised how many people there do. I was there upgrading all the highrise MDU's Cable TV - it was like being at a car show just walking down the street. almost everyone valets every type of car you could think of - the best of the best were everywhere (as far as new vehicles - no classics :( ).

Parking there was the worst thing, we would spend 2 hrs just getting access to the building and parking. These people lived there everyday and had to deal with that. Someone said that Bethesda, MD had the highest concentration (per capita) of restaurants anywhere in the US...

I would never let a valet park my car.Thatd be like letting someone sleep with my girlfriend :D :D :D

I let the valet park my BMW one time the car came back the both front seats leaned all the way back like two scumbags just went cruising. I couldnt beleive it. They didnt even bother to put the seats back in the up right position, leaning back all the way. This was at a hospital in Philly mind you.
