Any of you "ol' folk" remember the 1978 Kawasaki Z1R? I am looking for a Kerker exhaust for that classic look. The only aftermarket exhaust still available is from Vance & Hines in a "drag style". Any ideas where to get a Kerker?

I assume you've been watching eBay too? I just bought a 80 KZ1000C3 cop bike so I'm there when I'm not posting here. I've seen a few factory Kerker pipes there in the last couple of weeks but I dont recall seeing one for a Z1R. Yeah it suks looking for parts for these bikes. I've got a 82 GS1000SZ and I cant find any decent pipes either. I busted the weld on one of my originals and I've been out bidded on every single one.The aftermarket suks,just plain suks.I think I have bought enough parts on eBay to build another bike. I used to work with a guy that had one of the "factory?" turbo'd Z1R's. The same color as the one in your pictures and not the black one with the rainbow stripes. Awesome bike. If I win the lottery thats the one I want.

Jardine Exhaust shows a classic series exhaust system for a 1978/80 Z1R for $524.95 for chrome or $433.95 for blk pipe w/chrome mufflers. My distributor for them is Parts Unlimited under p/n j5110-bl for the black, and p/n j5110 for the chrome.Mac also makes a blk/chrome pipe for that bike for $277.95 under p/n 802-0601. Any bike shop should be able to show you pics of these and order them for you.-Joel

I wonder how fast the turbo bike was and how it performed. Never saw one in person.

I had a Kerker on my old 81 KZ750. I liked it, hope you find one that's in good shape. I thought the turbo'd Kawasaki's were a 750 size? Been so long I don't remember...

Wow this brings back memories. Does anyone remember the H2-750 Kawasaki? That thing was a screamer with the triple 2 stroke motor.

Ya, Littlesteve had one but I think it was smaller cc. His Mom made him get rid of it. I drove it once and it almost took off right out from under me!

I've been looking for a Kawasaki 750 turbo. The were made in the mid 80's I think 83-85?. Anyone have one?

They SHOULD throw in the bike with it.

I had a friend who bought a Honda 700 Interceptor back in I think 1984 and his brother bought a 750 Kawasaki turbo which would outrun the Interceptor. I ended up buying the Honda off him for 1000.00 which was a steal. The bike only had 73 miles on it. He then went out and bought a 900 Ninja which would outrun the Kaw 750 turbo.

I've still got my original 1983 Honda VF750 Interceptor.

I bought that over the Kawi. 750 turbo since it was a bit lighter, although still very heavy, and an all around much better bike.

Stopped and handled way better and the torque and horsepower were over a much larger and more useful powerband.

Gotta restore it someyear, only has 4K on it.

I put a ton of miles on my Kawi. KZ650 jetted with a Kerker and K+N's.

I loved that bike too.

I loved my Interceptor, it was a very fun bike to ride. It's almost hard to believe but I traded that bike for a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang shaker hood car. Sure wish I had that car back after watching the prices skyrocket.

Yep. Wish I had one! Nah, I'd kill myself.
My old buddy had a Yamaha RD400 Daytona special.
We ported it and did some of the two stroke tricks to it. It was a BEAST and could keep up with a 1978 Honda CBX (the inline 6) Those were some FUN times! I LOVE 2 cycle engines! Simplicity.
