whenever i rev my car up high, (factory tach is broke) and then let off quickly it makes an embarrasing "BAAAAHH" type noise. It makes it sounds like a ricer. Do your cars do this too? It did it with the stock exaust and downpipe, and now with the atr downpipe and crossflow.

if it sounds similar to a ricer your muffler could be blown /rotted out my car sounds deep at cruising and after you get on it all you can hear is the turbo sucking than it justs gets deep again no baah noise does it pop a little from the exhaust after you get on it ive heard gns have a slight pop from them but never sounded like a ricer and still stayed deep like a muscle car good luck hope this helps

I think you are talking about "turbo sneeze", which happens because are cars didn't come with blow off valves, so when the throttle plate slams shut when the turbo is making boost, the boost has nowhere to go so it tries goes back through the compressor and makes a funny noise

if you rev it up re you in park and it makes that noise or in drive if your in drive buick power is right if your in park you shouldnt make any boosted so that wouldnt cause it let us know what happens
good luck Anthony

It cant be my muffler because its a brand new ATR exaust. It is only when you rev it up in park or nuetral, not when your going down the road. Its also not the turbo sneeze because it comes out the exaust and not out of the intake. I think the turbo sneeze sounds cool but anyway, i was just wondering if it was a hot-air thing because my uncles old 85 did the same thing and niether my dads 87 or my other uncles 87 does it. Also, do the hot airs do the turbo sneeze too? is there a trick to making it do it because mine doesnt??

I always thought turbo sneeze only happened when the throttle body was located after the turbo.....like in the 86/87's........I never noticed any noise with my car until I relocated the throttle body after the turbo........I now have turbo sneeze on my car from the V2 kit. You dont have any exhaust leaks.......headers or up pipe(my stock up pipe was leaking and making a funny noise)? I am also under the impression that "hot air" cars don't need Blow off valves because the throttle body stops all in coming air........thus no air trapped between the throttle body and turbo like on the 86/87's.........which causes built up pressure to come out of the air filter.....or turbo sneeze as its called. Just my .02 cents, Nick:cool:

You're right. BOVs on hotairs are useless. TB has to be on the pressure side.

You can get kind of a raspy sound when you let off when you rev it high in neutral or park. It seems to be a combination of exhaust, downpipe, testpipe, etc. My car used to do it. Now it doesn't and the only thing I changed besides the complete motor is I now have a 3" test pipe. It did this with both the Kenne-Bell exhaust and ATR exhaust.

good point, I wasn't thinking

Mine makes that sneeze sound, but it's not the same as an intercooled car, like cool84 said it's more of a rasp. I have a 3" dp, and it's 3" from the test back. It has to be boosting pretty hard to be heard though.
