Like the title says, I am looking to get my car to go through CA emissions and I am looking for a emissions chip like the turbo tweak one, I just need to borrow it for a day or so and I can get it back to you. Let me know, I would really appreciate it.

Hey Gary, how you doing? no im not sure if I need one but from what I have learned, prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I just want my car done because once its done, ill be able to come to the Buick meets again!!

TT chip does not operate the EGR, so if he wants to pass, he will need a smog chip. I have one but for 60# injectors, and Im in SD. Not sure if your gonna pass visual though unless you have an easy smog tech. good luck

Jeff:
I do not have a smog chip, but you might want to give Lou Czarnota a call as he can do a pre-smog on the car and tell you what issues you might have, if any.
good luck.

Thay're only $20.
I ordered one a few days ago to get mine ready.

Reinstalled the cat...before I go I'll lower the fuel pressure a few lbs.

Not ness. most chip manufacturers try to duplicate the low level driveability of the original chip. No need usually to fool with that. If the car fails its usually for other reasons & the list is long.

I think the TT versions shut off the EGR function and go to a open loop (or is it closed....opposite of what it's supposed to do) idle.

Also figured it couldn't hurt since I have the 60# injectors in there and the TT smog ship is burned to compensate for that......

For $20....it couldn't hurt...it's cheaper than failing for something marginal if I didn't use the chip.

You cheap chicken, when have you ever parted with $20.00 that you didn't have too ? I heard you're still hanging unto the 20.00 that you got when you graduated from the 8th grade.

I just spent it.

By the way...ever since I was last at your shop, I've been wondering where my space saver tire and jack went.
Have you seen them?

I will sell them back to you! How else am I to stay in business ?

If Im not mistaken, TT goes in open loop to try and smooth out the idle. Stock chips stay in closed loop if the car is at operating temp and other parameters are met. Not to mention, that is not what matters if the car passes or fails. The car is tested at 15mph and 25 mph. The TT chip does not operate the EGR at anytime (which is ludicrous if you ask me) and this will increase your NOx. New vehicles use a 3 way cat to help reduce nitrates of oxide (NOx) but if you have an older vehicle (pre-96) you will have a 2 way cat which only helps reduce HC and CO. Either way with a TT performance chip you will most likely fail smog unless you have a perfect running car, new cat, new o2 and even then its hopeful. Also make sure your t-stat is the stock one (195 I think). Anyone can do a pre-test on any vehicle.

Also, the EGR is designed to reduce NOx at cruising speeds AND give you better gas milage. In open loop (like when you floor it or accelerate hard) and the vehicle goes into power enrichment mode, the EGR is not used. So by disabling you EGR you increase emissions AND lower you mpg. No need to eliminate the use of the EGR if you ask me!

Well there you have it...my EGR is never running then....
I'm always racing something...anything....a squirel will get lit up if he moves to quickly next to me.:D
