I used to work on my car *all* the time. When I first got my GN there were so many little tricks and tweaks to do. Now the only tweaks left are serious $$$! I already did everything that was cheap! :)

Back then I was young and single... But nowadays, life is busy - house, wife, work, etc. I have trouble getting out to the garage. Used to go out after work, now maybe a few hours on Sat or Sun is all I really get.

The worst thing is that my main car buddy moved. We inspired each other to wrench, go to the track, cruise, and so on. It's just not the same any more...

Car is still fun though. Took me ~20 months to get it running again after it overheated and scuffed a piston. That was a drag. But, when I took it on the test drive a few weeks ago, it felt *great* to be back behind the wheel again. Still haven't had time to finish breaking it in, and if it craters again I'll be seriously depressed, but right now I feel good. Can't wait to really jump on it!

Losing interest in one's hobby, regardless of what hobby you are into happens from time to time to everybody, I think. Just putting it aside for a while will help determine whether you should stay with it. I just went through a 3 week withddrawl with my car where I didn't take it out, I didn't clean it, I didn't uncover it, I didn't even admire it. I took it out for a spin to a local morning cruise yesterday and got back into it real quick. Through out my life I have had 3 main hobbies, high performance cars, high performance motorcycles, and firearms, and this has happened with all 3. I think that the intensity with which you involve yourself with will determine the breaks that you need away ffrom your hobby.
