My father and I are restoring and 87 gn that has a electronic dash. I never saw one like this before and was wondering if anybody knew how many were made with that option. Also does anybody know how i could find out what production number my cars is. Thanks for any info

Unfortunately records as far as I am aware of do not exist in Buick that nails down the number of 1987 Tubro Regals that got the optional digital dash feature. Most records on these cars when they did exist, where combined with regular Regals that were produced.

Years ago when these cars were fairly new yet I was able to work with a guy at Buick that researched various production figures for me such as the leather seats etc.. unfortunately with Buick city basically gone it would be hard to find out anything today.

The Corvette owners on the other hand can track every single production number related to every option for every year....Buick turbo owners are not that fortunate....

Well thats kind of a bummer but thank you for letting me know that. I still would rather be a buick owner and know nothing about my car than just another old guy with a vet. thanks again dennis.

Not to create an issue but I also own a rare Corvette 2000 frc coupe and at 63 years old may be classified as old?

Vette only has 3 options....one I have less than 500 made..

My GN has the electronic digital dash also, that's two for sure :p

I'm actually interested in going backwards, and replacing it with an analog speedo, fuel gage, and tach.

If you really want to convert digital to analog (or analog to digital) you will need to swap the dash harness along with the cluster. Basically a complete dash to do ir correctly.

I have repaired/upgraded hundreds of digital dash clusters so there are quite a few out there. They are simple but extremely accurate.

I have the digital dash in my GN and I like it much better than the analog dashes Ive had in other turbo cars. As John said, its very accurate and I think its much more pleasant to look at than the poorly lit, jumpy needle analog dash. If you get the 199 speedo chip installed, you really cant beat it. Only thing better would be some actual gauges....never understood why Buick didnt put gauges in these cars, not even a water temp gauge:D
