Anybody have any money markets withe either Freemont Finincial or Countrywide? Freemont has already filed Chapter 13 (bankruptcy) and I hear that Countrywide is not doing so hot either. How safe do you feel with money markets in either of these places? $50K & above Jumbo size money markets?
These two places are paying the highest rates that I know of for $50K & above money markets. & btw, watch doing business with Wachovia as far as money markets are concerned? They just dropped their money market rates to an unbelievable 1.6% APY regardless of amount invested.

country wide

with country wide, you have to mail your money out of state, texas, no inertest for the time its in the mail both ways, sometime thats 1 week each way:confused: ???

Gary

I currently have some $$ in Wamu, platinum accounts, rate varies, but no restrictions at all. currently paying 3.9%
for another good one, Pentagon Federal Credit Union ( penfed)
again, have some in their Money market accounts.
I'm sure there are others, but I hate restrictions and small print.

see ya next week

You got mail, Cruz, & thanks for the info. & yes, see you weekend after next, isn't it?

The only accounts Wamu shows like that now is 4.2% or so for 100K locked up for 4 years minimum in a CD, not quite the same as a money market. Everything else that they show is way below that, not even 3%. I like the flex of a money market.

I think that Countrywide has been bought up by Bank America...Doubt they'll go "tango uniform"..

I trust Bank of America so little that when they bought out MBNA Credit that I don't even wait for my credit card bill to come from them, I call find out the balance and then go directly to the nearest B of A branch and pay it in person so that I have a receipt just in case. And Fwiw, World Savings has gone to hell since Wachovia has bought them out a year back.
