This is not bashing our soldiers over in Iraq but i think this story shows that other countries soldiers have more heart and care more for the cause than some of our own troops.

We need to have a look-see at their training methods and implement some in our regimen.....impressive.

For some reason I can't open the page.

Are these Salvadorians the ones from San Salvador, El Salvador?

If they are, I have seen first hand knowledge on how they operate and it nothing to be excited about. I lived in San Salvador for 1 1/2 years while working at the U.S Embassy and been on their bases, they are ran down, filthy, and the dicipline is hardly up to the standards of the US military.

As for are Military and those idiots that just commited those acts against those Iraqi POW, the book should be thrown at them if found guilty, in saying this, please donot critize are Military for what a few misfits have done. Thanks!

1) A heroic act by any person/unit of the coalition in the Middle East does NOT detract from the performance or reflect on the training of our military. But, in my view, you remark does.

There is no military in the world that can compare with our military in training or performance. Israeli and English units are on a par in some cases, but, there is no real need to apologize for our forces and their readiness, or, their didication to the mission. This morning I read about a US Marine Cpl who threw his own body on a grenade to save his buddies. Your remark is ignorant in the extreme, and offends me deeply.

2) The members of our military who have embarrassed our country with those pictures from Iraq this week will be treated fairly....And then they will be put in jail, their military careers at an end, never to wear the uniform again. One big difference between our military and our culture is that when something like this hapens, we will deal with it forcefully, in the light of day.

When the hate mongering Middle Eastern media sees how we handle these pin-heads gesturing around that naked pyramid, they'll demonstrate to the world a huge difference in how the US operates.

Like the article stated, many of the Salvadorans were trained in the US. They may be fighting with a little more emotion due to the fact they have a recent memory of what it is like to have to fight for their freedoms and appreciate the situation much more deeply than most can fathom.

I am a citizen of Nicaragua and my country as 266 troops right now in the middle east one of them being a cousing of mine and another cousin here from the US they even ran into each other up in bagdad, all i can say is that most of the guys from Central america are bad asses, they train ever harder sometimes than the american soldiers, and the reason why their bases are run down is because of lack of funds to keep them up, but when it comes to battle they kick butt, remember that most of these guys have been fighting for almost all thier lifes for freedom etc etc, they know 1st hand what is like to be in battle, and we are not talking about shooting a missile from 100 miles away we are talking up close combat which american soldiers hardly ever see.

great story! it's ridiculous to say, though, that our soldiers don't have a care for the cause. that's ignorant.

about the americans and the current bad press ... my friends and coworkers are all still behind the troops 100%, and realize that the very small number of troops who abused prisoners do not represent the rest of the soldiers.

This may sound bad on my part, but I really don't care how our guys are treating prisoners. War is hell. Up until this century war included much worse things than we are seeing right now. If you fought the Roman army and were defeated (which most were) if they didn't kill you, then you were enslaved and taken back to Rome as a laborer. Rape and humiliation was always a part of a militalry defeat. We ask our guys to go kill the enemy, but do it in a humane way, and still be nice guys? I don't see it.

Send a boatload of ammunition....And, take fewer prisoners. Its OK to kill them, but not to humiliate them....Some kind of logic. I think we'll be taking fewer prisoners in the near future.

This dozen prison guards and a few of their supervisors will fry, and should, for those pictures.

Where is the outrage by the media for the dead, charred, dismembered, American Civilians killed by these Iraqi's? Where is the outrage by the world media and Arab hate mongers for the acres of buried bodies in the deserts of Iraq? Where is the outrage for the mother, and five children Murdered in Israel this week?

Some set of double standards we operate under in this world of the media today :-/ Its time we "shake" ourselves like Sampson of the Bible....The world would understand a little old fashioned Ass-kicking, and back away very humbly, and stay out of our way. We try too hard to please everybody else. Its time to stop worrying about france germany, and the other spineless, weak, double dealing, old-world powers.

Excellent post sir.

How about, let's go back and look at pics of what the Iraqi army did when they invaded Kuwait. they were hanging innocent citizens from lamp posts on the street corners. Drive-by shootings of women and children, standing on their own front porches. Mass rapes of kuwaiti men, women and children. These are the same people who dismembered our soldiers and drug them throught the streets a few weeks back. Sorry, I feel no sympathy for the Iraqi POW's. They are lower than whale crap in my book, and they are probably eating better than they have in years in our jails.

Sorry about that last post boys....my sensitivity training class is coming up next month. I'm sure that'll soften me up some!:D

What is it in the some folks' make-up that they insist on seizing every opportunity to hate us?

Maybe that's a question they should be asking THEMSELVES...

Why is it that we are the only country that fights with rules????
Our war cry seems to be "Let's not piss anybody off while we're killing them.
Being a Viet Nam vet, I saw situations where the enemy prisoners had far better conditions than our own fighting men.
There is definately a double standard in this world. One for US and one for everybody else.

Comes with the territory. Nobody gives a crap when you lose - you're just one of the boys. But beat somebody at anything, and you'll wish you had a hat for all the crap raining down on you. It's human nature to blame others for your own state of affairs. After all, no way could your life be YOUR doing...

Aint that the honest to god truth, I couldn't agree with you more.

Seems as though some in the press and media need to look up words before they use them. What happened to those prisoners was humiliation, not abuse. Yet, the medias continue rolling on using the wrong verbage knowing full well they are doing it.

Abuse

To use wrongly or improperly; misuse: abuse alcohol; abuse a privilege.
To hurt or injure by maltreatment; ill-use.
To force sexual activity on; rape or molest.
To assail with contemptuous, coarse, or insulting words; revile.
To deceive or trick.
Improper use or handling; misuse: abuse of authority; drug abuse.
Physical maltreatment: spousal abuse.
Sexual abuse.
An unjust or wrongful practice: a government that commits abuses against its citizens.
Insulting or coarse language: verbal abuse.

Some of these sure sound like humiliation to me

This whole situation is being overplayed, but what do you expect.
Its an election year
Its happening in an arab country where we are HATED already
