When i got my car the doors where misaligned and the door seals are shot i know the car was repainted and such so .. moveing on i changed the bushing in the door to fix the sag and now id like to align them whehn i put my new door seals on because id like to finish up the interior before i send it to the body shop but new headliner and bad door seals wont fly.. should i take this on by myself get the book from kirbans or wait for the body shop w/ would suck. ??what do you guys think?

You can align the doors your self BUT, it takes ALOT of patience...(last set I did, I had 6 hours+ in them and I could have gotten it better if I would have taken even more time) once the doors are aligned properly you will probably have to realign the windows and might even have to realign the fender depending on how good the body initial alignment was before.

Most of the adjustment is in the front hinges (up/down and in/out - multiple combinations create a 360 adjsutment)...what you can't do there will have to be done by actually bending/twisting/tweeking the door for a final good fit.

There is no forward and back alignment.

The striker in the jam is for IN AND OUT location adjustment only. Alot of people will use it to lift or drop the door into alignment at the rear when the door is closed - big mistake.
It's actually best to remove the striker so the door will swing open and shut easily during adjustment. Reinstall the striker when the door is aligned.

Always start by getting the proper up and down location of the door - you've got to make sure it's in the hole square before you do in and out...

Tape the edges of the fender and door with HEAVY thick tape to avoid chipping during initial alignment.

Good luck - I personally like aligning panels - it's always a good challenge.

hmm i know last time with no idea i got them close and it took a few hours and a big pain in my back .. i just want to get them where the seals will work and wont be damaged being that aligning the panels where in my body shop estimate that im happy with. . so i guess what my next question is if they are close but not just right.. will it damage the door seals .. should i continue with the intirior or just go to the body shop first thanks for all the imput im probably going to tacle it this weekend

If they are close, you won't cause damage...the seals will seat into shape so, I would try to get them how you are going to keep them.

Not sure what you mean on the question about the interior...

Those are great - the cheap way (and not as safe) is a floor jack & 2X4
