I am planning to bring my GN to the Nats this year and would like to find a class I can race on Saturday and I somehow do not entirely fit the rules for any of the race classes at BG.

Being a former TSO car from the mid 2000s the class my car fits the closest today is TSM. My car fits the rules entirely with the exception of having a standard coilover mount and not one that is canted. I am not sure how or why the rules allow a completely adjustable unequal length 4 link race suspension with aftermarket TQ boxes but not a standard coil over mount? The only difference I am aware of is having to run a slightly higher spring rate with a canted shock mount.

But I am not here to lobby for changes or create a debate only looking for an exception with maybe a weight or tire penalty? My car in Drag-n-drive trim weigh 3460 and I am bringing a set of 235 tires to test since I am planning to go limited 235 racing later this year. I would be willing to run on 235s which surely would level any perceived advantage my coil over mounting has?

I am looking to see if an exception can be made BEFORE I purchase a legal PTE 7275 turbo. While I can probably still hurt some feelings in TSO I do not want to race against 3000# S2 head methanol race cars with pin on frontends, this is NOT what my car was built for.

Your racecar does not currently meet the rules to compete in the TSM class. As you stated the rear shocks mounting is not legal per the rules.

Factory rear suspension mounting locations required with shocks in stock location. Coilover conversion allowed. (2019 change)

Thanks for responding Paul.

To be clear no exception can or will be made even with a weight handicap or running on a smaller 235 tire which is clearly at a dis-advantage?

I only ask since this rule is pretty much an aesthetic one and has no real bearing on the performance of the car and I am willing to handicap the car?

Like I said I built this car as a hot rod to enjoy driving and competing in streetcar classes which it has done successfully. I would think a "Modified Steet car" class would be a more appropriate place for it? If not that is fine it will save me $$ from buying a class legal turbo just to fit a once a year race car class.

Sick at the Green is at BG on the 29th which I would like to attend since I did welll at Rockingham. This is also a more appropriate venue for a proven street car like mine.

We currently have no rules concerning concessions or negotiations. I simply say if you would like to participate in the TSM class at the GS Nationals please refer to the rules and make your racecar legal.
