i'm tearing down for a roller cam (full throttle) install. the motor only has about 5K on it. i just got the timing cover and found a new double roller timing chain and a new tensioner. i thought you weren't supposed to use a tensioner with a double roller chain?

so what should i do? reuse the chain and tensioner or buy a new set and ditch the tensioner?

if i should replace them, how do i measure for the size chain?

Do a search on timing chains. You shouldn't use a tensioner with a double roller. If I remember correctly you should have less than 1/4" play with a double roller and you measure between the center line of the cam and the centerline of the crank to get the correct measurment.

thanks, that's pretty much exactly what i was thinking but just wanted to be sure.
