Are there instructions for troubleshooting my power seat? I think it is something in the motor or connection cables. Does anyone sell these parts or are they available aftermarket (last choice). Thanks for the help
Paul

What year is your car? The 1985 and older have one motor and a transmission which are all going to crack and fail.
The 1986-87 has the different motors.
There are mid year changes as usual.
I'm not saying its the drive unit, just letting you know to look and see what you have.

Oh ok. It's an 86 and has one motor, if I remember. I should take a photo since I have the seat out so I will post that tomorrow.

Here is a photo of my power seat. Can you tell me which one I have?

I think that's and older unit, one motor and a transmission. Its like the one that i rebuilt, put on a new case.
Yours looks in much better shape than this one was.

There's a place called "Proper Parts" that sells those transmissions. You send them your old one for a core, they send you a newly rebuilt unit.

You need some way to rule out the switch as being the problem. Do you have a 12v meter? A 12v test ight would work also.
Test to see if the motor terminals are getting power when you move the seat switch to any position. If not its probably the switch?

You need 12volts to this white and black wire when you activate the seat switch

I think I have two problems, when I did put power to the orange and black wires on the connector, the switch seemed like it was intermittent and part of the coupling btw the motor and transmission broke off allowing the motor to spin but not move the seat. See photo. Can I just buy a coupling? And possibly a new switch.
