Drivers side power window question

My driver side power window wont go up or down. Passenger side works fine from driver side. I don't know if it's the switch or motor. Is there any way to bypass the switch and jump off a 12v battery to check to see if motor works. Any ideas?

just track down the two wires going to the motor, either unplug or cut these wires. i usually then try running the motor up and down with a battery from a cordless drill.
