Ha..... the car is low milage original so I'm assuming it's from the factory. I'm only guessing it has something to do with balancing???? the original owner was also talked into the rust proofing as you can see by the black over spray.

Probably has to do with the transmission and differential combos. The needed lengths for the combos were likely color-coded.

I'm a Colts fan too and it ain't easy to be.

it would have been nice had Buick painted the entire driveshaft with either color to slow down the rust process!

I agree with earlier post coded so worked could put it behind the correct powerplant..... put my guess in that bin.

Thanks Jon and Dennis. it seems weird I'm sure but when I work on this car I often wonder if the gm employee (that installed what I'm wrenching on) is still alive.
