driveshaft to short??

A friend of mine bought a used driveshaft and it appears to be to short.It came from a 87 GN going into a 86 T-Type.I always thought all the TR driveshafts were the same.Any ideas...Thanks!

sure he dont have a 7.5 rear in it?

if it does have a 7.5 then the 8.5 d/s will be around an inch to 1 1/4 too short
