He in the Chicagoland area we have a cold bout going on, but also a dry one. These dry roads make me wonder if it would hurt driving on them. Most the salt has left the road in one way or other, but it's clear that not all the salt is gone. What do you guys do?

I guess I am the wrong person to be asked this question, but my GN is put up for the winter . So my personal answer is "I don't drive it at all in winter". But please consider this, my insurance company limits me to 3500 miles per year. So my full coverage ($35k agreed value) is dirt cheap.

I dont drive it in the winter. DRs in freezing weather probably arent ideal and i wont let salt touch my car. Mines not a diaper wiped show piece, but its not rusty at all. And i intend to keep it that way.

X2. I put mine away in the garage the end of October, and it doesn't come out until at least the middle of April.

Wisconsin is not afraid to use salt. My roads are currently white because of it.

Its your car, you wanna drive it then drive it. Car wash it off before you bring it home. I live in pa and untill last week i was driving mine everyday. Snow now and a little to cold for the drag radials. So im done.

Cold = More power.
Cold = Less traction.

More power + Less traction = :eek::nailbiting::jawdrop::arghh::nailbiting::facepalm::cry::depressed:

Garage queen from first salting until pothole season is over. This year drove into december before the first salting.

I love to drive mine in the winter... Temps are finally cool enough to make some power here in sunny Florida ;) Only salt I see is at the beach...

Daily.

4 Blizzaks or X-Ice tires work ok.

And yeah you get some heat with a 160 stat. it just takes a while to de-ice but that's due to the crappy vents/defroster and blower motor.

I washed it in 2006 I think. :p

If you do drive it in the salt, make sure you rinse the underside and inner wheel wells extremely well!! Salt will sit in the crevices and just eat away at the metal. I've had my GN since 95 and I drove it once in the winter. I had no choice and it was an experience I'll never forget!!!HINT--car is light in the ass!!!

I was forced to drive my car a couple of weeks ago to get the car used to the new chip. Luckily the roads were only wet with rain, and it was in the 40s. My car came from Alabama, and it doesn't have any rust, which is a rarity in Ohio, so I hope to keep it that way.

I should have phrased my question a little differently. Something like, Have any of you that have driven your car in the winter only in dry conditions had any adverse effects. Anyone have any real world experience?
