Saw a couple posts on the Neon SRT4 the last couple weeks so I thought I would go out and test drive one. Cool little car, runs very strong for a 4cyl, sounds better than I expected, good seats and gets 25-30mpg. Loaded with a moonroof, $21K minus the rebates. I actually considered getting some numbers on the car, but the sales manager comes out to tell me a little more about the car, and asks me if I'm buying it for my son. I said, i'm 32years old and dont have a son, I would be buying it for myself. I thought that was a little rude and left. Guess I dont look like the kind of guy that would drive a Neon:D :) . Anybody else drove one?

I'm 37 and just bought one. I am finding that there are many "more sophisticated" srt-4 owners than I expected. Plenty of owners in their 30's, 40's and even 50's! Take the wing off and add a resonator and suddenly you are just another Neon, which suits me fine.

The srt-4 is a neat car. I had to sell my magnum r/t, to allow my wife to stay home and the hemi had me hooked on a fun daily driver. The car is a hoot to drive - more fun than my Magnum was.

I have to say it may be the best bang for the buck out there for a practical daily driver hot rod. Mustangs are great, but only 2-door and they are 27k-30K. Sure there are quicker 4-door subcompcts, but you'll pay 10 grand extra, and the srt-4 is very receptive to mods - kind of like another car.

Do it and you woon't regret it.

After years and years of building these things, D/C has this car nailed down.

I'm thinking about it, I was definately impressed, its a lot of car for the $$$. That 7year 70,000mile powertrain warranty is nice too.;)

I think chrysler knows what they are doing with the turbo setups.

They have been running turbo's since the 80's around the time buick gave up on the GN. Actually before.

I think the SRT-4 is a neat car. Its just the typical ricer kid who's mommy and daddy buys the car for them that I don't like. I think they look good with the back wing removed. Pretty slick. Can be modded to haul ass too and the exhaust thankfully doesn't sound like a honda w/ a fart can.

No 7/70 on SRT-4's. 3/36 bumper to bumper only.

Imagine the loss D/C would take on these with a 7/70 powertrain warranty. A good number of these cars get flogged to death and D/C knows it. On the plus side the engine and trans are overbuilt and they are REALLY durable.

Funny, i was just talking to my coworker about this very same thing. I may go that route after my lease is up in a year.

My son's 04 has the 7/70. Did they discontinue it? His has never been back to the dealer since he bought it a year and half of many 1/4 mile passes and quite a few dyno pulls.

You know, you're right. I think 05's got the 3/36. They are discontinuing the 7/70 on some 06 models also.

I acually sold my SRT4 to buy the GN and a truck... Bought the SRT4 for 21,500, for an 04 silver, was a awesome car, and around town nobody had really built any up, so I had one of the quicker ones in town. It was fun, but you can only go so fast without dumping tons of cash into it, like any other car.

Traded the SRT4 in for a 04 Tundra, and bought my GN.. The GN has tons of problems, but already went a full second faster than the SRT4 and i only paid 6 for the car. Not bad i would say.

If u dont romp on the car, they get great gas mileage, can seat 4 albiet not comfortbale, but u can cram them in there.

for 2 passangers its great for long trips.
