Yes, the two are exactly the same. I ran the header from an old 85 motor I had while I was waitng on my 87's to be welded up.

Edit: The pre-SFI cars probably have a different driver's side header.

Worthog,
Where did you take your headers to be welded? I need to get this done.

Dwight Hayden did mine, but I don't think he does them anymore. He goes by elevensecgn on this board.

Also, you could have any competent local welding shop do it if you can supply a head for them to attach it to while they weld it. That would help prevent warping during the weld.

Otherwise I hear Postons has a good stock replacement set.

The reason I said "No" was because the part numbers from GM are different for the '85 and '87 cars, but if they will fit this would give those with cracked headers another option.

My '83 TR uses the same DS header (different years have different numbers because of differing heat shields, but they are the same otherwise). When it cracked, I replaced it with a '79 DS cast iron manifold (Turbo and NA are the same). This cast manifold may be a bit heavier, but I doubt it will ever crack and it has the same inner dimensions.

I pretty sure the crossovers interchange from 83/87 as well.
