I have always wanted a dump pipe on my car, but have never put one on because of having to crawl underneath it. I have recantly found an electric exhaust cutout that bolts onto the dumpipe allowing you to open the dump pipe from inside the car. The problem with the one I found is that it fits 3" down pipes my car has a 2 1/2" down pipe. I have tried to contact the company that is making these to see if they would make one for 2 1/2" pipe but I haven't heard from them. I was curious if maybe I culd get away with slipping a 3" dump pipe on my exhaust or if anyone knows a place that makes these for 2 1/2" pipe please tell me. If these options don't work I'm thinking of getting a 3" down pipe so they will work. I would perfer not to get a new down pipe since the one now was so hard to put on and that it will cost more money in the long run.

Here is the link if anyone wanted to check it out.

The kit is sold by Mark Hueffman, a fellow board member...

I plan on doing this also, as I am in the process of making a test pipe for myself. DON'T change your downpipe just to accomodate an exhaust cutout. The logistics in routing the 3" downpipe are quite challanging due to the heater and a/c box which are in the way. I would recommend what I'm doing.

Get a test pipe to replace you cat converter, and just put a 3" Y in the middle. Then weld a 3" header flange to the end of it to bolt the cutout onto. Now, you can just unbolt the test pipe if state inspections are a concern where you live, and put the cat back like nothing was ever there! Or, like I plan on doing, just leave the test pipe in, w/ the cutout forever!

Anyway, my $.02 ... Hope things work out.

Thanks for your reply and the link now I'm torn and confused but all the more options the better. Do you have one on your car and how does it hold up?

Well, buick from Hell what is the possibility of having this done in a 2 1/2 inch for us hot airs?

Since these just bolt onto a Y on a test pipe, why not make a Y thats 2.5" on on side and 3" on the other. Or stick a 3" to 2.5" reducer on Y.

Isn't making noise kinda ricey :) Especially went it costs money to do. A good exhaust will flow well enough.

 Rich that was a mean reply about making my car sound like an import. I don't want to make my car sound like a lawn mower I just want to wake the neighbors and set off a few car alarms!:mad:And anything I do to this car seems to cost $$money$$
