I am about to order one. I have a few q's first

1. How long did it take you guys? I know several good welders and wont be doing the welding but will do all the prep work myself.

2. Did you follow the procedure on gnttype.org or did you use your own? I think the most difficult part will be cutting and welding the IC to match the neck. Why the hell didnt Duttweiler make it so they would match up, or make his longer?

3. I have seen several members say "I gained 2psi, or I gained 4psi". How can you gain boost by removing a restriction? Or do you mean the neck allowed you to run more boost without getting knock?

TIA

cutting and welding was the easy part

It's the mock up that kills ya. It took me about 3 hours from start to finish {grinding and paint}. I gained 2 psi at WOT installing the neck {i believe it's from the increased volume of air being pushed thru the cooler} . The spool up was quicker for me also.

The casting on the inlet side of the duttweiler neck is ugly. I took a little liberty with a grinder and a flap wheel.

I can e-mail the pix of another one i did if you like.

On gnttype I saw how the casting of the neck needs to be smoothed out. If you can email me the pic that would be great. Did you use a method similar to the gnttype method?

I sent the pix off to your e-mail address

I used part of the gnttype method along with a few tricks of my own. Where the tank is cut to bend the tab to match the inside of the neck , i didn't have to do that. Where i ended up cutting the neck off, all i needed to do was grind away a little on the inside edges of the tank to get them to match up to the new neck. A little mirror and a flash light is a big help. I used a big spring clamp to hold the neck in posistion to tack weld. Once you grind away and radius the ugliness in the inlet of the dutt neck it will swallow the outlet of the turbo whole. There was no science on getting the neck in posistion. Ole dead eye was on and luck just happen to be on my side. :D

P.S >> if you have oct 5th open a whole bunch of buicks will be at ubly. Come on down.

Sorry about the late reply, I have been on vacation:D

I was thinking about going to M7 on Oct 5th, but if you guys are going to Ubly I may change my mind...
