Last thursday at Irwindale the GN ran its fastest times yet

7.0 seconds @ 100.5 mph (1.7 sec 60 ft on Dr's)

I just replaced the wide band 02 sensor ($380.00 G*d D*mn dollars...lol) on the FAST system prior to running the last time at Irwindale so i figured it was time to turn up the boost, put in some good gas and see if my DYNO numbers would improve from the DYNO Shop outing a few months ago (437 hp / 440 ft lbs torque)

My thanks to Rick Percy for turning me on to Mike up at Advanced Performance Muffler (9616 C Avenue, Hesperia, CA 92345 - (760) 948-4588)
They have a dynojet, do FAST tuning, and the DYNO rates are incredible. (5 pulls with FAST tuning included - $75.00......what a deal)

I did 5 runs, did some tuning corrections between pulls, and with the final pull being the best the car hit 497.5 rwhp with 500 ft lbs of torque @ 6000 rpm @ 21 psi boost and 23 degrees timing

I stopped after the 5th pull because I saw tranny fluid leaking from an unseen spot and didn't want to risk burning it up 70 miles from OC.

I would have loved to have got past 500 rwhp, and i still had 5 or 6 pounds of boost to go up for the GTQ 71 turbo to be at its sweet spot, but enough was enough....and i'll live to run it another day

Great place to do business with

WOW RAY! CONGRATZ MAN!!

Does that mean your going to Irwindale tommarow to celebrate? I'll be there n hope to see you there as well.

500hp! NICE RAY, you've worked so hard on tunning and your whole car. It's nice to hear that the numbers are finally proving what your doing is right.

Good job buddy, I'm glad you've got a GN and am proud you participate in online GN world with class and honor! Happy your on the right side, the darkside

That's fantastic Ray! Theres still more room WOW  maybe 630 plus rwh?
I'm gonna have to build a new motor LOL

Hope to see you tomorrow. ;)

Great #'s, Ray. To say that I am envious would be an understatement. Your work on that car is really paying off.

Good job Ray, and thanks for schooling me on the FAST last month at Irwindale. When I get my car back together I will be going up to Advanced Performance Muffler to get it dialed in, with out a dout. I think Jeff is going up tomorrow to get his XFI dialed in.

Now you have to ask yourself, roll bar so you can play at the track or no roll bar so you can play on the steet and try to play at the track before you get booted out. :D

Had my car dynoed today and again I had problems with the new XFI. It will not data log past 6 seconds it then goes flat line. So we did not do full runs but at 20 lbs of boost it laid down 671 hp and 740 lbs of torque. EGt's showed 1480 F so it is still rich. As of right now no one has a fix for the problem. This has turned out to be the worse move I have made (moving from a B2B Fast to the XFI) with the car.

Well, at least the numbers are there, But that is weird about the logging problem. I hope that popping and banging was cleared up. I guess that means you have to make it faster in the 1/8 mile. :D 5.90's or quicker

Hang in there, Jeff, we know that you will get it straightened out. Are those RWHP & RWTQ figures?

Gary,
Those are rear wheel numbers.

Have you tried loading the XFI software on another laptop and logging? Maybe it's just hard drive space? I can log for minutes on mine.

Those are big #'s Jeff. I would settle for about half of that.

We tried two different computers. The second one got the XFI software downloaded on line (both computers had the XP operating system). I just tried another computer with Windows 98 (this is the computer that I used for B2B but had issues loading an XFI update so I had not use it) and it seemed to data log fine although I was only in the pass for 9 sec. on the street. I will try to take it out to the track this week and see what happens.

I am greedy. Can never have enough. One of these days I am going to filter off some go fast money and get this buggy painted. Maybe with a coat of paint and some Zano I can pick up a tenth!

Does it log with the engine off? (key on) Have a datalogger? I can't imagine it being more than a fix in the program. Which track?

Scott,
I do not have a stand alone data logger but I am looking into getting one however for the purposes of the dyno, it is better if you can see the logging as it is happening.
It did data log with the engine running with no load (on my computer but did not with Advance's computer). I forgot to mention that we expanded the scale on the Map side and it did data log one run and as fate would have it we forgot to save the run.
It is very easy for me to go to Perris, so I will probably wind up there on Friday.
By the way Reg also dynoed his TType and got 541 hp at 21 lbs of boost (91 octane and alcohol) before his turbo lost a seal. Next week I think he will be back to test his GN.

Jeff:
Do they also tune or will they make adjustments in between runs while the car is on the dyno.

Gary,
They charge $75/hr. with tuning. The car owner drives and Mike the tech. will operate the computer and the drum brake. I was on the dyno for 2.5 hr. (with some down time trying to get the date logger running) and the charge was $185.

Are they good at dyno tuning? Or do they just run the dyno and the car owner does the tuning?
