Alright.. main question is some of our Walbro 255lph pumps and then the racetronix 340lph pump. Some are and some aren't specifically rated on E85.

Anyone have any real history with pumps not being rated strictly for E85 and what type of lifespan issues you have seen? I have a pair of 340lph racetronix pumps. Brand new, but considering switching to some AEM's that are rated slightly lower on flow, but are made for e85.

Any real world experience would be helpful.

Thanks.

Ps... I currently have dual 255lph 340m's in the tank and wondering if I'll have issues with those too.

REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE .. the WALBRO 255's DO NOT DEAL WITH E85 VERY WELL.

I can not comment on how long they will live .. as its a crap shoot .. I can tell you I have personally seen them puke numerous times after a E85 conversion. Sometimes almost right after.. sometimes it took a few months.. that's why I DON'T use them in a E85 conversion .. actually I don't use the WALBRO's anymore at all as I personally have had way too many failures with the pumps. I started using the DW pumps and couldn't be more pleased.. and they work excellent with E85

I have the Racetronix dual 255 in tank setup. I think they are Walbro pumps? No problems so far and I have had nothing but E85 in the tank for 2 years now. I don't drive the car that much though. Just my 2 cents.

I would also recommend the DW pumps. I have a pair of walbros right now and haven't had any issues (2 years) so far but the DW pump is the best option out there right now. My other car with a DW pump has 4 yrs of E85 on it so far and it's fine.

Twin Walbro 255's in my tank for 7 years, straight E85, no problems. I rarely have run into problems with Walbro's (or any fuel pump) on E85. All the Chinese pumps have been working well also (like the Deatchwerks, AEM, etc).

Eric .. how can you tell the Walbro isn't a Chinese copy ? I mean there was a RASH of copies that went out ..and are currently going out ... that's another reason I don't want to deal with that pump ... the other is when you do a Pump in a TTA and then you have to RE-DO it over on your dime .. it sucks ! .. then as far as the warranty .. its always some BS that they find that VOIDS the WARRANTY ...

To each there own .. some have issues .. some don't ... I just can't send a customer to a Walbro anymore knowing better...

Besides the DW runs circles around a 255 walbro .. Especially at higher pressures..

Best thing going now for these cars .. that I've seen is your chip for E85 with 80's and a DW pump with a 44 turbo ... what a blast in a street car !

Thanks for all responses.... I'm thoroughly confused of what to do :)

I run the Walbro 450, just installed on my T, but have run this pump on many other big turbo builds, with no problems ever. And I should add, all have been e85 cars/trucks.

If it was me, I would use your dual Racetronix pumps since you already have them (depending on how fast you trying to go). But be aware that with 300-340lph (and larger) pumps you will most likely need to put in a larger return line (on a Buick, not TTA), but it does vary from car to car.

Regarding the Walbro warranty thing, I have always personally warranteed the pumps, no questions asked. I still do, even for E85 use. Luckily I've only had to warranty 2 pumps over the last 4 years.

Whatever fuel pump setup you use, I agree, E85 is definitely a lot of fun! :)

Does anyone have any experience with the Walbro F90000267? I believe Racetronix lists it as a 430lph, but have seen it listed as a 450lph on other forums.

Yes, that is the one I have in my car now, and used on multiple builds. Great pump, never had a problem with one yet

Not a whole lot of Buicks using it yet, but it looks good. I'm sure we'll hear more as more people start using it.

Dave, I responded to your email today, let me know if you didn't get it.

Regards,
Eric

What type of set-ups are you running this pump? I'm looking to get started with e85 this summer on my new S2/76 combo and want to keep the in-tank set-up. Thought about running this set-up at low to moderate boost before going to the 340/double pumper.

it's currently on my car, which isn't anything much special at the moment, but we've also used it on about a half dozen turbo ls projects which range from 700-1k whp. However, on those cars/trucks, we did go dual 450's. As far as single 450's go, I've used it on a couple 4th gen f body's that are head/cam/intake/tune corn cars, both around 450-475whp. And a procharged lq4 truck that made about 550whp. I'm not sure what your goals are as far as power goes, which will dictate whether you need a single or double setup, but honestly, this makes about 10 cars and trucks over the last 2 years that we used this same pump on and none have had a problem yet.

has anyone tried to mount dual 450's in the tank of a buick? that'd be the ticket, but I can't see how to get those two pumps through the hole.
