My tranny is shifting around 4500 rpms on 1st-2nd and shifts to 4900 rpms 2nd-3rd shifts

All my shifts use to shift at 5250 rpms
If I shift it manually it will go to the 5200 range or more

And also it does not flash off the line as high as it's been
3000-3300 rpms now
3700-4000 rpm before
Does that sound like torque converter or valve body ?

I'm taking it back to the builder ,but was curious what ya'll thought

Has your transmission ever worked properly since it was rebuilt or has it been doing this from the time it was reinstalled?

Sorry to get back to you so late had to work 16 hours yesterday.
Transmission has been fine after the rebuild ,but in the last month the car seems to have slowed down in ET's, hell I would not have even known the shifting points if it wasn't for the D\S it just did not seem to pull as hard ,it's really not like slippage it just shifting early and the stall does not flash as high as it use too off the line.
I did talk to the guy that built the tranny and he said As new as the rebuilt (Jan. of 2004) is I should not have to mess with the TV cable. He thinking valve body or stall ?

Resolved?

Is this resolved?

Purchased a rebuild transmission and she shift at 2950 in all gears. (only issue with it)
This transmission also has 3 wires instead of 4 (???)
TV cable adjusted per GNTTYPE.org

What should I verify?
Any ideas?
Could it be that this is a Monte Carlo transmission?

Yes it is resolved , I guess after the trans finally got broke in good , my transmission man adjusted the TV cable and has been shifting good since.
as far as the 3/4 wire queston your asking I have no idea ?

Jerryl,

Your transmission could be built from just about any type 2004R. Who built it and did they claim it was a proper turbo Buick type unit?

This is the issue I am looking at - TB or not

It was swapped at the factory (serial number mismatch) and found out after self-install that this ons was intended for a Monte Carlo. Could this be an issue?

Transmission is also 10 MPH off (Speedo is 10 fast)

Any help is appreciated.

The Buick turbo cars have two hydraulically actuated switches where most cars have only one, thus 4 wires coming out of the tranny instead of 3 like yours replacement has. Wrong trans.

From "the factory"?

Wrong speedo gears for your setup too.

May not shift anywhere close to what it should. (Although the Monte SS version wasn't bad).

You got problems.

Thanks!

I am adding this for future searches.
I am pulling the transmission back out for the correct one.
