Anyone know approx how much a shop would charge to replace a leaky rear trans main seal?

thanks!

If its the one between driveshaft and tranny, you can do yourself. ALL you do is disconnect the driveshaft from rear end than put driveshaft aside. Use a flat screwdriver to remove the seal. Then you tap the new seal and replace all that was removed. The seal shoud'nt be more than a few bucks. Now a shop is gonna want at least 75-100 bucks.

rear seal

Don't forget to use lithium grease on the drive shaft before you insert into the tranny tail piece. Otherwise you can damage the new seal and continue to leak... It is easy to replace...

I agree,it's easy do it youself save $$. I work in a trans shop we'd charge 1 hour labor and parts about $100 bucks.

Thanks for the help. I have a very bad back and can't do work myself any longer, so I have to pay others now. I can make sure I don't get overcharged.
