I read through ebay's fee list for motor vehicle sales but I was afraid I missed some hidden charges. For you guys who have listed and or sold cars on ebay I have a few questions.

1. It is $40 to list the car on ebay regardless of price?
2. If I have a reserve or do not have a reserve this will not effect the price I pay to ebay?

From what I read, I could not tell if they were due some amount at the time of sale too. As always thanks for your input!:)

You should use a reserve, because if the auction does not hit the reserve I believe you can relist for free.

Yes, just $40. But, then they can nickel and dime you. For example, when I just sold my TR on ebay, here was the fee breakdown...

3481015795 Feb-13-03 16:17:21 PST Insertion fee 2403775926 - -US $40.00
3481015797 Feb-13-03 16:17:21 PST Reserve price auction fee 2403775926 - -US $2.00
3481015798 Feb-13-03 16:17:21 PST Buy-It-Now Listing Fee 2403775926 - -US $1.00
3491835268 Feb-15-03 17:18:08 PST Final Value fee 2403775926 - -US $40.00 Fixed final value fee of $40.00.

So, to sell my car (regardless of price, mine was $4000.00) it cost me $83.00

With all auctions, you pay a fee to list item based as a percentage of the starting bid amount. Then, you pay a final value fee based on a percentage of sale price (if the item sells).

With autos - its just fixed at $40.
