Ok thanks for that #. I called it and spoke with a nice gentleman in New Delhi. As was stated I can't leave neg. feedback for the deadbeat buyer. When I close the investigation, Ebay will put a strike on the buyer's account. I have no idea what that means. He also said naming the dead beat in my listing is against Ebay policy. I'll do it anyways, and will block her from bidding. Thanks.

I want to say that I have heard that same type of scam on Craigs List used just the opposite way....... My son was in an accident/ is sick and I need to sell his car/jeep/bass boat etc, etc, so I can pay his hospital/doctor bills. And usually they are selling what ever it maybe at a really low price that is not equal to the condition of the item so as to stand out and attract as many buyers as possible.....meanwhile there is no actual vehicle to sell.

And they always have a relative who is in the shipping biz and they tell you that he can transport the item to you for nothing and is doing it just to help the family out!....that's parts always priceless!!

And I am Not trying to imply that GNRick is trying to scam anyone! .......her excuse just sounded familiar is all.

My daughter is her age and found her email at this school: http://www.oswego.edu/people_search...search[]=dept&subsearch[]=fac&subsearch[]=stu
So it can be safely assumed that she is the 20 year old on Facebook. I will contact the school and see if anything can be done as she is abusing the priviledge of using the school's email for fraudulent purposes. Also, I thought placing a bid on ebay is a legally binding contract? Could I sue her for the price of the car? Come on guys, help me get this scum bag!

I can understand you are pissed, but even though it is supposed to be a "legal binding contract" she will just lie her way out of any action you may try to take.
Try to make her squirm a little if you want to have some fun, but it's more likely a lost cause. Tell her you have hired an attorney & eBay is working with you and your lawyer to prosecute her for fraud.

Yes that is a good idea. I emailed the provost at Oswego State University of NY with the issue of a student using her university account for unethical purposes. I told her this student has cost me over $16,000 plus Ebay fees. Will let you know if she replies. I also emailed Ms. Barry like you suggested and told her she is messing with the wrong person. Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men has nothing on me!

I'm all for revenge but you didn't really get screwed out money except for maybe the listing fees so why use alot of time and spend more money just to go after this low life. I could see if she had possession of the car and didn't pay you but is she really worth it?

Well said. Just move on and sell it. Dont waste more time.

She screwed with me and now it's my turn. I didn't list my car, watch the auction for 10 days, get all excited when I thought it sold, just to find out some low life put in a fake bid (actually 4 fake bids). I emailed her for the address of her son in the hospital so I could send a card, no response. I guess her school will soon be deciding if "this is worth it".

does she have a certain time limit to pay? what if you realist and she complains that you relisted her car?

You're not doing yourself any justice. You just threatened her in writing.

Just ruffle her feathers a bit like you're doing by contacting the school.

then, LET IT GO!

Forget the self pity. Life goes on.

She had 48 hours to send a $500 deposit, then 7 days to come up with the rest. So we are way past that time period.

Wasn't a threat...it was a promise.

The thing is the more we let people get away with this kind of thing, the more it will continue to happen. The less BS people put up with, the less BS there will be out there.

I totally agree with you but being that you pay ebay for their service then they're the ones that should be going after her. Placing the final bid and winning is entering into a binding contract. Ebay should be reimbersing you for the deposit that she agreed to pay by placing the bid then trying to rcoup their money from her. Both the bidder and ebay are at fault here.
