Is anyone out there running this turbo? If so, I would like to hear about your experience. I have considered purchasing this turbo. If not this turbo what would be a good turbo for my combo? I currently have a TE44, and would like to go bigger. I realize I would need to change my converter and build my transmission. Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

Be careful with some of those Ebay turbos..as I have heard it is either hit or miss and quality control is a big question mark with some of them...

Save yourself the drama and order from a vendor..(Cottons, Full Throttle etc etc..)

I agree. If just ONE little part let's go... it's lettin' go right into your engine. Unless you have some sort of safeguard in place.

Agreed. Avoid "brands" such as SS Autochrome, OBX, and any other brands that don't list precise specifications on turbine wheel trim, compressor wheel minor/major, shaft type, etc.

I will pitch one brand that I've been impressed with and that's Master Power. They're a Brazilian-made turbo that's constructed in an ISO-9000 facility. They use Garrett parts so they're easily rebuildable. I use one of their T70's on one of my cars and it's held up just fine.

Are you dead set on getting a T66?

There is a guy that is selling a very/brand new condition CPT BB-61 on Ebay for about a hundo more....

I would get that one..

The compressor wheel's measurements are a T66 but the compressor housing doesn't reflect a real (Turbonetics) one. It may work, though. I'm iffy about the price on it but I could be wrong.

I would'nt put that turbo on any of my friends or enemies cars. Theres no place for a cheap chinese turbo under the hood of a TR. If you want a cheap and reliable turbo here ya go GBodyParts.com Online they dont get much cheaper than this

ive used several of the chinese turbos with excellent results.

the key element? a rebuild and balance right out of the box.

the turbos are usually really dirty inside, (machining junk) or are missing small parts sometimes.

after a good inspection, usually just setting them up with a good set of american journal bearings, seals, and balance makes them happy campers.

The wheels are oddball though, to me it looks like they take a known american performer and then copy it.... and alter it just enough to not be the same... so it makes swapping parts around impossible unless it stays within the chinese family.

your best bet is to look at all of those new Chinese turbos as brand new ready to be rebuilt cores.

:rolleyes:A.j.
