ECM mod for DS

ok i have that pice of the end cut off. what do i do to get the clear stuff off the circut board?

i use nail polish remover but what do i apply it with?

and yes i know, dont go beyind the skinny part.......

i applied the nail polish remover with q tips. you could also scrape it lightly{very lightly} with a nife or something.

the nail polish remover and the q tip. how long should this take? it does not seem to be removing the stuff??

if i use a knife, how do i do it so i dont bend the circuts?

Q tips until you near the end.

Use the knife at right angles to get the final layers off.

Make sure the contacts are shiny and clean.

It takes 3 tries usually.

Scotchbrite works to get the copper clean at the end and then wash off with denatured alky. or acetone or electronic contact cleaner.

i got the stuff off the top w/ a razor blade and some nail polish remover. is this ok?
both sides? top and bottom? or just top ok?

I used a coarse cloth to reach in there and scrub the surfaces clean...after soakin the cloth in acetone.

Nice signature...might wanna shorten it up just a tad.

One last tip: Cut a piece of zip tie and slide it down in the bottom of the DS connector. If it goes too far onto the ECM, it will not work properly. It's like a spacer more than anything.

thanks for all the help guys! i modafied it and its in the car and runing. ill hook up my friend's directscan and see if the conector works
