ECM question

Car, '87 GN

I bought a modded ECM with a power logger already installed in it. Is the VIN associated with the ECM or can I simply use the modded computer in my car?

Is the digital dash or anything controlled by the ECM that would cause problems in my car if the ECM removed from other car doesn't match my car?

Wow, did that make any sense?

You're good to go. Nothing that fancy in 1987 yet, on these cars anyway.

Thanks, I had trouble wrapping my head around the simplicity of the electronics in the last one I owned. Need to remind myself I was 17 years old in 87 and that was a long time ago.
