ECM Speed signal from cluster- required for swap

I have an 87 GN powertrain that I am using with the GN 2004r in a swap. I know the Cluster provides the speed signal to the ECM. Do I need the signal? Not sure if its required for TCC lockup. I do not have/ need cruise control.

Is this what I need to get the correct signal to the ECM?

That should work. Not sure what you're working on but if you choose a Dakota Digital Dash (either VHX or HDX) you can generate the same output from that.
