i have a question about what would be a good ecm choice for a stock turbo setup for a 87 gn with the plan for a bigger turbo and supporting upgrades in the future. also if anyone has something for sale.

thanks

Welcome to TB.com

You need to tell us everyhting done (mods) to your engine..... what ECM is in it now.... and what your goals are....

IMHO, if your goals are mid 10's or slower....spending money on an aftermarket ECM doesn't need to be very high on the list...

A good "spring cleaning" as shown over on gnttype....and a hot wired Walbro 340 or equivalent..... and scantool.... and then a TT chip.... possibly alky kit next...

There may be some missing steps here that are already done... that is why I asked you to list everything that has been done...

You can go 11's on the stock motor and turbo... with the correct bolt-ons and tuneup...

thanks for the reply.
my list that i have done now is i have converted my 84 hot air into a 87 ft mount intercooled turbo. stock 87 turbo with a adjustable wastegate. adjustable fuel pressure regulator, walbro fuel pump, hot wire kit. still using 84 maf, map, and ignition and ecm. it has a aftermarket prom with 8 adjustable level thumb wheel not sure of manufacturer it was in the car when i drug it out of a field. i also have msd wires and stock a/c plugs. i would like to make a 10 sec car in the future but for now i want it to run as strong as i can with the stock stuff i have. i am willing to replace the ecm with a 87 and all sensors to a 87 if that will make a differance.

I would think it would be a good idea to convert everything over to the 86/87 stuff.... then get a good TurboTweak chip... and a Razor's alky kit....then start tuning.... you should be in the low to mid 12's fairly easy... with traction.
