My mechanic put on my block off plate but he didn't run the bead of red permatex around the entire egr area. My smoke machine showed it leaking and when I removed it I found the lack of sealant. So I tried running a new bead of sealant and will let it sit 15 hours, then I'll smoke it again. I'm using a copper gasket and I put the sealant on both sides of the gasket. I was wondering how others have done it. I've heard they are hard to seal but I hate to spend $40 for a new EGR valve that the chip doesn't even recognize. Smoke leaked out of the old valve (blm's were 150) which is why I removed it. Thanks.

I have the plate from Full Throttle, sealed it with Copper RTV only and seems to be holding fine.

i had the same problem so i did the same i threw away the gasket and used the copper rtv been fine for 2 years now

Just did this to two cars and have two more to do soon. The copper rtv and the paper gasket worked fine for both with the full throttle block off. Very nice piece!

Im having a set of heads done if i have my head guy block off the egr passage in the head then the sealing the intake blockoff plate becomes irrelevent correct?

I let it set up 19 hours, blm=130 now. I used the copper gasket and red permatex on both sides of it. I hope it holds when vacuum turns into boost! Thanks everyone for their input. Looks like there are several ways to seal it.

if that dont work rjc power plate will. then the whole port will be blocked at both ends . good luck

hello; I don't know what clamping hardware your using but if you use the stock one that applies pressure to the middle of the plate it would seal better.
There was a guy here who cut up his EGR valve and used it as a block with the stock HW. I thought about it just to clean things up a bit. But the TT chip does not use EGR so it's still there.

make sure your plate is flat, sandpaper on a flat bench and glide it over it a few times to check. brake clean to clean& dry the surfaces, GM hi torque sealer, it will never ever leak. only takes about 10-12lbs of clamp force on the bolts don't go crazy.

In the past, I have used JB Weld and some mesh screen. Filled her up then put the block off plate on... Never a leak, even with the plate off:)
