When the EGR is deleted is the vacuum check valve still required?

Yes. That line also feeds the cruise control and supplies vacuum to your heater/AC control.

Yeah don't be like me and take that check valve out. First time I went into boost (30 psi at the time), it destroyed all my diaphrams inside the car that control the heater/ac control vents...everytime I started the car I would hear a "hiss" for a few seconds and it would go away...then after I would get into boost and out of it, that hiss would come back for a few seconds...very annoying...Even when I went to turn on the A/C or heat, it would never blow out hard and the heat was lukewarm...I eventually ripped out all the A/C/heater crap since it was all non-functioning anyways and all is well now! Not to mention plenty more space under the hood :)
