my mechanical Unit died on my 76 CJ-5. so it needs to be replaced. i was talking to my dad and he said why not do an electric FP and run a kill switch so you have 2 methods of security on the jeep.
so that is what i am doing...
i bought a purolator pump from checker, cause it was the most compact unit (space is limited on the jeep. the holley and the other brands i looked at where huge and would prolly get ripped off while wheeling). the purolator is a good pump from what i have been told and will flow enuff for my needs and it will mount inside of the frame rail right next to the tank. i will run a ground to the frame rail and the pos. to a fused link and a 12V source at the fuse box.
when i wire in the cut off i will use a toggle switch unless i can find a one wire key'd switch like a universal ignition switch but it has to many terminals on the back (if you can think of how i can run that i would like to have a key'd switch. so comments are welcome).
here is my question to i just cut the 12V source and wire it in line to the toggle and be done with it. is it that easy?
do i sound right?
oh do you guys think i need an adjustable regualtor for the carb? it flows between 5 and 9 psi. the jeep shop manual i have says 5 to 7 psi. do i need one?
