My rear main is leaking some. And I have been told putting an electric vacuum pump would stop the leak. They are saying it would do away with the crank case pressure. Anybody heard of this?

Thanks,

A Buick not leaking means something is wrong or your not going fast enough.

Really though, if it is the rear main replace it with a good rear main following the procedures you will find on the board or find a good shop in your area to take care of it.

Vacum pump will not resolve the issue.

Depends. Is it a blow-by leak or a bad seal?

I have replaced the seal, it was not in the greatest condition. But it is only had about 5,000 miles on it. I am now working on getting the vacuum pump functional. But getting the motor completely sealed is becoming a challenge. Got the valve covers and dip stick sealed but still have a leak somewhere.
