Is there anyway to completely eliminate the EGR and the EGR controller. My understanding is that if it is not installed you will set a code. My heads do not have an EGR riser and I am emissions exempt with Classic tags.

How can I just get rid of the stuff?

I don't have an EGR on my car. But I uh... use it only on the track:D

I cut out the tower in the manifold, welded the floor closed, and then fabricated a block-off plate from some metal sheet stock for the exterior port on the manifold. I used a little Permatex ultra copper to seal it. The car runs fine and I don't remember seeing any codes.

It will not set a code. It will not hurt your performance. I don't have a EGR on my three TR's. You can use a aluminum plate to block over the EGR holes in the intake. Or you can weld them in.

Thanks Guys. I always thought that unplugging the EGR controller set a code, guess not.

EGR delete

Removing the EGR in intake and plenum and welding/sealing closed .... GOT IT !! Now my question is .. what about the various vac. lines, and connections to purge cannister, and the purge solenoid ... what happens to those connections ??

I did all the above cutting and welding closed of intake, but did not block off the EGR itself.. Then i left all vac lines hooked up but put little bebe's in the vac line coming from controller to the EGR. Looks stock but will not let the EGR open (no vacuum). Works great. Car still screams, no codes

Replace the vacuum line with one line running to the T on the fire wall. I also used the check valve in this vacuum line. I taped the EGR electrical conector and tucked it behind the intake. Looks very clean.

That's the answer I was hoping for. Unplug it and forget it.

Maybe a stupid question, but directed to those of you who still have provisions to use an EGR (stock heads, intake, etc): why the desire to remove it?

My heads do not have an EGR riser so it is just cluttering up the engine bay.
