Yep, that is right. I am going to do it until I can find a suitable replacement for the one that I broke the tab off of.

So, unless there is an objection to this… forever hold your piece. :)

You'll notice MUCH hotter oil! and a corresponding drop (drastic) in oil pressure.

Mine's been disconnected since a rod bearing failure at 110,000 miles. Still going strong, sans oil cooler, at 205,000 miles. (I just didn't want to chance cross contaminating my overhauled engine.)

Maybe not ideal, but it works for me.

Go with a remote filter (Turbo saver is one way to do this) & a good aftermarket oil cooler (Earls is an excellent choice).
Jegs has a remote filter setup & so does JC Whitney (I'm not familiar with Jegs, but the hoses with Whitney are too small - smallest to use are 5/8" or AN # 10).

Mr. T, and I thought I was the only one to do that, break a tab off inside the adapter that is. I felt something give while tightening it but did not do anything about, but when I started the engine it leaked like a race horse.
I am looking for a replacement. Does an aftermarket supplier sell these? or are we at the mercy of finding a used one?

It was a play on words.

"Piece" being your own Oil Cooler Adapter.

Nope, nothing is made by GM any longer to fit this requirement.

So you and I are forced to look for a used setup.

Personally, I am leaning toward a remote filter set up so that I can:
a) avoid blowing into oil filters at WalMart and Canadian Tire for the rest of my life... looking for anti-drain back valves
b) avoid paying waaaaaaay too much for a used one
c) Just to do something a bit different.

I'll just jam that 70# spring in place and hope to God!
