Thanks for the previous replies to my questions.
I appreciate it.
I removed the emblems and want to put them back after the new paint.
Guessing some GM adhesive remover is in order.??
But then what do you use to stick them back on, and how do you keep it from glopping over the edges of the emblems and getting on the new paint?
Thanks

Thats what I use too. The only complaint I have is I haven't been able to find molding tape in black. The white stuff is okay but when you look down at the emblems you can see the white edges. A sure give away that the emblems have been R&R'd. The factory and new emblems have the correct black tape.

Would a permanent black marker on the edges before you peel the coating off be a dumb idea?

If you're looking for black tape, ya might try 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape. It's black OEM type, but shows as only being in 1/4" to 7/8" widths. The 1/2" is 3M #051131-06382. Found it on 3M's 'site. Maybe they make it in wider versions?

when i was a lexus i used the green body shop tape put it under the badge and mark on that where the bage went so it was on the same spot when reapplied. we did alot of the gold badges instead of the chrome when the customer bought the car/truck.

i used a 3m molding tape. i dont have the part number, but i got it at auto zone. it was, if i remember correctly, one inch wide, and i trimmed it to fit correctly. it was dark grey all the way around, and came out nicely in my opinion. try back at auto zone to see if they still carry it. the stuff i used sticks VERY VERY good, so, make sure its correctly positioned, as once its on, its stuck like chuck. how do i know? cuz i screwed up a tad, and the stickiness, is actually stickier than a GN emblem is strong. youll bend the emblem trying to get it off, if you dont have a heated blade. its that strong. you can apply this stuff right over wax should you so choose. trust me when i say this stuff is sticky.
