Just think if you are flying at 37,000 ft. and a solar flare knocks out all the aircrafts electronics? Can you say CROW BAR? As in the glide path of a CROW BAR?
Now, with that being said......I work on the newest of commercial aircraft that is ALL electronic, including brakes and cabin pressurization. (never been done before) and all I can say is that everything we install is EMP proof. Every wire is shielded and grounded to eliminate all EMP issues. Commercial and Military aircraft have critical electronic shielded. If the shielding is compromised due to poor maintainence practices, then that's another story, just as if the airline doesn't add fuel to the tanks prior to flight, or the pilot doesn't deploy flaps before he tries to make it in the air. That'll NEVER happen......right?
EMP issues are similar to Y2K worries. Instead, worry about how all of our stuff is being taken over by the Gov't. Auto industry, Health care, Finanacial industry, and next is energy with the "American Power Act". by Kerry and Lieberman. (Look THAT up!
