End play clearence

I've got .040" end clearance between the selective rear thrust washer (631) and the snap ring. Book calls for .002" to .010".

Would it screw things up if I added plain ole washers under the copper thrust washer (632) to get the end play within specs?? Would it accomplish the same as having a thicker (631) washer??

The washer measures .131". The 164-.168" will get the end play to the recommended specs.
