So as per my earlier post, my suspected headgasket turned out to be not. When I disassembled the valvetrain I found that the intake valve seal was ripped on #3, probably introducing oil to the chamber and causing the mess on the piston, etc. Burn looks OK otherwise.

However, 2 questions remain: why is compression low on 1 AND 3, and why is the turbocharger wheel so white?

Any thoughts?

The wheel is white from racing fuel. The valve seal might have ripped from not having enough free travel. Post a picture of your head gasket. It might have been leaking.

Hey Russ, I would almost start to look at your injectors at this point.
Is there anywhere in Cowtown that could flow them? I have run 30% xylene on more than 10 occasions and hav yet to see a white exhaust wheel from it.
Yo are still further ahead than I am at this point, at least your shortblock is togther......

Xylene

I would say probably is the xylene for the white on the turbo wheel.Look at the white outline on the #1 and #5 pistons ..:)
