Engine Sn: ID, what years?

Ol' newby here
The engine I bought has the following sn: 1261787 cast into the back of the block. What years is this engine?
Also, can I put an Edelbrock 600 carb on this intake?
Does anyone make a "dress-up kit" for the turbo charged engine?
Lots more questions coming ...soon.

the chrome bonnet off the 83 is about as dress up as you can get aside from aftermarket valve covers and the factory aluminum draw thru intake. you can also jet coat the manifolds and pipes.

The casting number is located near the starter mounting pad. Not sure what the number you posted is though.

I would guess that is a 78 or 79 block. Casting numbers off the intake exhaust and carb will help ID the year of the motor.

I'd stick with the factory quadrajet. Other carbs can be made to work, but not worth the hassle, IMO.
