Hello TB community, sorry my first post here isnt a positive one, but I'm having some trouble with my alky kit and am hoping someone here has some ideas.

I have an 89TTA, and normally I run 22lbs of boost with the alky knob set around 5 with no problem running turbo tweaks alky chip. Now, though, I get a lot of audiable knock when i try this. I've tracked the problem down to Razors alky kit (which has been doing wonders up till now).

Normally, if I set the knob to 4 or higher and hold the test button, the engine will stumble and die. Now, even with the knob maxxed out, the engine runs smooth, no stumble at all. The activation light will still glow red, and with the car off I can hear the pump. I can hear it get louder as I turn the knob from 1 all the way to 8. It still will not stumble the engine at idle though.

I thought it could be clogged somewhere, and just read a post here stating that if the light transitions from red to green as the boost rises, that means you have pressure. So, I went out and tried it with the boost at a more conservative 19lbs. I rolled into full throttle with the alky knob set to 8. The activation light turned red and transitioned to green and I got no knock. However at 8 I should have been drowning the engine, but it didnt stumble one bit like it would when I would set the knob too high in the past.

I then tried turning the knob to 5, around where i normally keep it, and rolled into full throttle. I got audiable knock and had to back off. I then put the knob back to 8 and tried again, but this time I got strong audiable knock and had to back off. I kept an eye on the activation light and tried again. it seemed to barely flicker to life as the boost rose, and I could hear pinging under the hood again so again I stopped.

It seems to be performing erratically. Any ideas on what the culprit might be? Failing pump maybe?

If I cant get it worked out by monday morning I was going to call him then.

He probably wouldnt mind. Excellent customer service!

I would say start with the pump,I had a problem with my pump also. Same type of things happening. How old is the kit? I know guys that get new pumps once a year. Im going to change mine out soon just to be safe. I talked to Juilo when I had my problems and he said send it back. Juilo took care of the pump no charge and sent it back. Remember Juilo dont make the pumps, and mechanical things do fail,I would try another pump. Again Juilo is first class with tech support.

im not sure exactly but i was using it during my cross country road trip in may of 2007... id say its probably a couple years old. ive been running it pretty hard too. ill give him a call and see what he thinks.

Sounds like a pump issue. Sometimes its trash, sometimes it can be something else. With a sytem thats a few years old.. anything can happen. If the system doesnt pass the "Test" button.. dont lay into the throttle without being watchful. Call me during the week(Mon-Wed) this week and i'll walk you through the tests.
