ESC questions

I am adding a turbo to my 231 jeep cant quite make out the wiring diagram at the relay is the purple wire 18 a ground ?

No purple wire at the ESC. It's either pink with a black stripe, or blue. The ground is a black with white stripe and the signal out is yellow with black stripe.

This is the diagram I was using I see the pink wire as hot but don't see what the relay is closing? ground or another positive?

I was referring to the standard ESC on the 84-87 turbo engines. If you are using the early style system, I can't give you any advice.
