i now see that Esp now has a GNX style guage cluster. i really like the way GNX's guages are set up and was wondering if any body has seen Esp's cluster. if it is as good as the original then im sold. thanks for the info.

The site is http://www.espperformance.com/ Here's what it says:

For the owner looking for functionality and ergonomics, the GNX dash cluster is the way to go. A 160 mph speedometer, 7,000 rpm tachometer, boost, oil, coolant, and fuel level gauges are complete with sending units and the kit come complete with an instruction booklet. All hardware is included for the do-it-yourselfer, but we recommend professional installation. Eastern Performance has installed many of these kits in about 3-4 hours; expect to do it in 5-6 hours if it’s your first time.

Sounds good. Has any one tryed one?

ESP's GNX Dash

Ok... Please allow me to educate you a little about the dash ESP has advertised. It's a dash built by Tom Houser (Me!) here at Performance Instruments. Now before ya get all excited and call ESP to order one let me just say I don't build for ESP anymore and if you do call ESP you won't be getting a dash anytime soon. It's really nothing that's ESP's fault, VDO has been a mess since they were taken over by Siemen's and parts are still hard to get on a regular basis sometimes. A lot of those problems have found solutions recently and I've started building full time again. One thing happened with ESP that really didn't sit well with me (the dash builder) so I decided to investigate other venues for getting my product out on the market. I've recently teamed up with Poston's Enterprises and I build for them now in addition to offering GNX style dashes directly through Performance Instruments to anyone who wants one. At Poston's only the six gauge dash is offered without the premodified support housing or dash trim bezel. Direct through Performance instruments, the six gauge dash or the custom eight gauge dash comes COMPLETE and ready to bolt in! There are a few people trying to come up with their own version for a dash upgrade similar to what I've built and PERFECTED over the past five years. I respect their decision to try... but if you want a dash upgraded that's proven and guaranteed there's only one smart choice. The Performance Instruments web site is in the process of moving to a new server so if you'd like more info please feel free to email me or call for more info. Take care and thanks very much to the many Performance Instruments customers of the past and future!

You could sell a but load ( yes but load) of these if the price was in our ball park$400;) for the past few years all we have been seeing is problems with selling these or who carries these,,just seems like this product has been bouncing all around ,,if you want it to work ---keep it real, and it will work
Thats just my opinion,so dont take it the wrong way..:)

I agree with Asphalt A. I think the reason why most vendors in the past, that have not been very successful with this package, is the price. $800 plus is going to put these out of the range of a lot that would buy them. Not tring to tell you how to price your product, only you know where you stand and have to sale them for to make a profit.

Tom, please post some links where we could take a look at what you have put together. For sure there is a big intrest in this package combo.

Thanks,

i agree,i price is way too high for most people.i would rather spend my $800.00 on something that will make my car faster, like a turbo.they do look good, but the price to fun ratio is not in my favor.:)

Cost vs Product

Fellas... I would LOVE to be able to sell a dash for $400 - $500 but unfortunately the parts at cost is more than that. For example look at a Jegs catalog and Price six gauges. The cost on just the gauges comes pretty close to that alone. We recently did a cost analysis on our panels and technically even at $850 it's almost wholesale. What you get for your hard earned green when you purchase one of my panels is worth every penny and then some. Some of you might remember the old style GNX dash built by AVC that was sold by Kirbans and Kenne Bell. Ten years ago that dash sold for $750... I know because it was my first dash. You also might have noticed that there have been a couple of companies that tried to build and market a dash over the past few years. Tony Dequick at CAS comes to mind. The reason CAS doesn't build a dash anymore is because even at $785 a pop he was losing money on them and it wasn't even near the quality of a Performance Instruments dash. Like I said before, I honestly respect anyones decision to try and build their own and there are some alternative dash setups out there trying to come to life. But once one of those clones actually hits the market what's it going to cost and the big question is... DOES IT WORK? Until I get the web site fired back up just email me with an address and I'll send you all the information on what I build. Thanks for the responses and emails.. Take care.

In response to the above post from "killerb", Purchasing a GNX style dash isn't about fun or looking good. It's about protecting the thousands of dollars you've spent for that "Killer" motor. What good is a 70 series turbo and forged pistons if you break your motor because your oil pump stopped working and you don't see it because of the stock idiot light setup. I like to refer to my dash setups as "FUN"CTIONAL equipment ! Yes it's an expensive product, but no more expensive than a turbo or a set of wheels and tires. The point I'm trying to get across with these posts is for someone who is considering purchasing a product like the one I offer is to consider their options and not waste their money on something that may not work. My product is proven and guaranteed... bottom line.

thanks

thanks for the info GNut, thats the info i was looking for and i will be e-mailing you to get your info. id admired the gnx dash for a long time and wondered why buick didnt use that dash in all the cars, but oh well, cant change the past. anyways, i was wondering if you ot ne pictures of ur dash, id like to see how it looks. thanks again.

Nice GNX instr cluster

At the risk of using this board for the wrong purpose...

Tom's package from P.I. is really nice. I've been happy with mine:)

Worth the cash - I really wanted to avoid the 'here a gauge, there a guage' syndrome with gauges litered all over the place. Now they are all right where I need them :D
