i have searched to my hearts content andcould not find an straight applicatble answer towards my question, and i believe there are alot of people who would like to know the same thing as i do.

the majority of us on this site love their buicks more than god, and would willingly spend every peeny they had on them just to see them go faster, but unfortunetly most of us have those little things called wives and rug rats to graciously absorb all of our "buick only" money....

with that being said, i would like to put together a list of absolute must have internals needed for astreet/strip car with a transmisson that will be using a trans brake (electric or manual) without breaking the bank.

opinions of who is running what and their experiences/catastrophies with their setups.

thank you all and hopefully those tranny big dogs will put in a word or two hundred.

nevermind the other things like driveshafts and rearends, just internals.

a billet drum is mandatory, but the other 3 items should be used and heres why.the input shaft carrier and ring gear are all input members and under heavy stress during brake apply.if the car is capable of low 11s high 10 use the latter 3 items.we have them in stock and at very reasonable prices.

At a minimun i would say:

- billet input shaft* (later ones beleived to hold to 600FT LBS)
- billet forward drum
- Hardened stator
- Hardened Sun shell

Not sure about the billet OD parts, probably would depends on your power level.

Then the standard internal upgrades like upgraded overdrive pack to 3 firctions, good frictions and steels through (but stock count), band anchor pin, servo, shift kit, wide red band, HD pump rings, 10 vane rotor, etc. Get rebuild book from chris at ckperformance and parts from CK or PTS see the sticky above: http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/tr...ttention-new-version-strengthening-2004r.html

Hey Chris,

the car currently does mid 10's off the foot, but the goal is to have it break high nine's.

the last three that you mentioned, could a transmission newbie be able to put these parts in (is a direct swap out, swap in) or is there more of an art to it. i do believe the tranny has thr billet forward drum. i must find out.

thanks

the 3 items install very easily after you pull the pump.you can do it in lessthan 1 hour .
