excercize with weights regularly and have at least 2 days of rest. say you train mon - fri. rest on sat and sun. eat regularly. lower the carb intake and heighten you protien content. eat lots of greens!! greens are harder to digest therefore you burn more calories in the process. the vinegar diet DOES NOT WORK! I'm an avid competitor in bodybuilding...I've seen and heard all kinds of diets, but the vinegar one just bites the dust. Though...there has been research on grapefuit upon its acid characterisics to help disolve fats and cholesterols. Sorry, I forgot what site I seen that from. Carb intakes should be consisting of good complex carbs like jasmine rice and brown rice. sweet potatos too. stay away from simple carbs, usually things like sticky calrose rice and sugars. protien intake should be 1.5 x your body weight. going over your protien count just turns toxic but not to a point where it kills you. it just get's wasted. take your vitamins. you dont have to lower your sodium intake so much...but watch how much you take in. you'll retain water and calories are going to be harder to burn during exercize. if you have hunger pangs...eat a table spoon of natural peanut butter or whatever protien bar you prefer. oh...as your last meal on a sunday on your rest day, have a cheat meal. go to jack in the box and order 2 bacon ultimate cheese burgers 1 large order of the stuffed jalepenos..and a diet coke :D

Turtle TR.. I have noticed my breath stinks with going to all protien fish, meats.
As for the carbs the only thing I am eating would be dark rye or pumpernikle bread with tuna, roast beef, turkey.
The greens I eat now are beans, broc, asparagus.

NO Carrots, potato, pasta, bread, cereal, candy, beer:(

YEA I was Cleanup for the kids..
Kills me to see them leave thing left over.
I try not to eat around them anymore.

So far in 5 days I have lost 5lbs. That is not bad.
I am sure it will get harder as time goes on but
I think 140 is possible.

Back in high school I was 118,
20's 125
30's 135
40's 150 up to 160. The 40's really makes a jump up.

Natural peanut butter?

People actually buy that stuff?

It looks old and moldy when it's new. :D

I like the hydrogenated Jiffy Lube variety straight 30 weight and creamy. :)

Mark you are lucky you don't look fat, just a bit chubby. LOL

Prolly just cut out some snacks and slightly smaller portions and you will turn into a single human being.

Protein shakes--I use Optimum Nutrition whey protein Chocolate, tastes good. I use 12 ozs. of skim milk, a banana and 1 scoop of protein, you could put a scoop of fat free ice cream in to make it really thick.
I eat regular peanut butter, nothing wrong with it.
If it is organic or natural, it's overy priced and thats a dead giveaway for BAD taste.
The squirrels in my yard wouldn't even eat the natural peanut butter I bought once and couldn't eat myself.
Green tea will make you SICK !! :p

Good Luck!!

I did not get the ATKINS & kick in the Nuts one?

as a Nutrition, Excersice wellness double major at ASU. i get sick of Low carb diets/no carb diets. there is no good reason for a health person to try this approach to lose weight. the only reason for trying this is if your severly over weight (IE 400 or more pounds). there is not one credible study that proves the cow/no carb diets are safe and effective. let a lone lower chloresterol and help regular blood sugar. other wise diet and EX. are the best way to approach to weight loss.

i wil post links for and agianst this if you like so you can make the judgment for your self.

i still stand behind my threat of kicking you so hard in the nuts your kids children will feel it, if you use this way of loseing weight.

Your breath stinks because you don't brush your teeth, scrape your tongue and floss and you breath threw your mouth. Your digestive system starts with your mouth. Basicly it's an open sewer. When you don't clean the toilet it smells the same way.

UPDATE to weight loss

Well I lost 15 lbs & back down to a 33 waist from 36.

I don't know if 15 lbs is good for 3 months time.

But I am increasing the walking & started lite jogging.
Hoping to get down another 10 LBS to 135

Also bought some 12lbs dumbells at a TAG sale for $1
This way I can do more upper body stuff that my universal weider machine doesn't seem to do.

I dunno but I feel like I get more of a workout with free weights.

If anybody cares to know my routine.
I lowered carbs, increased protien (tuna, fish, chicken) & eat 4 small meals a day sometimes 5.

walk 45 to 1hr a day 5 times a week,
Weights 2 to now 3 times week.

Timely thread, thanks for bringing it back up. We recently bought bikes and we're trying to build up by riding every 2 days or more. That's the only exercise I can get into and enjoy. I'm sure it's not the best way to lose weight, but I think being more sedentary is our biggest problem. Marriage= 10 lbs, desk job= 10 lbs, rounding 30 brought a few more. I can usually drop a few just by cutting out soft drinks and 'tater chips. If only I could keep that up! There's no dropping coffee though. ;) I'd like to lose 20-25 and I'd be pretty darn happy. The riding is a lot of fun, and a pretty good release after work. Looking forward to hitting some offroad trails.
15 lbs over a few months doesn't sound too bad, really. Not if its steady from diet and exercise.

YIKES that NUT kicking is intense! :)

More ZONISH diet.. :D

I actually am eating carbs just the better ones.
I was also eating cereal but 1/3 of the bowl full

I would look into "Body For Life". I know a few people that have did it and they are happier than a puppy with two peckers! I have tried it and love it! Seen lots of improvements w/ myself. But, I am more on the building mass thing so I am shying away from that program. I am 22 yrs. old, 5'7" and weigh about 180 lbs w/ about 10% body fat. Biggest thing for me was trying to get the mind set to workout and trying to get in a good routine for myself, but mixing it up to keep it interesting. I would always catch myself trying to make excuses why I don't feel like going to the gym or why I shouldn't run or whatever. I put myself in a bubble when I workout and I also write my goals down. Helps me alot! Good luck w/ your journey. Sounds like you are doing pretty good. BTW-eating around 5-6 times a day and smaller portions will in fact help your metabolism grow. IMO-eating right is probably the most important thing in losing weight or gaining muscle.

HTH,

Sounds like you're doing good by yourself. I have done the Adkins diet and I can say for sure it works. The reason I quit is because I have to workout a lot with weights and I would get very lightheaded in my routine.

I'm 6'0" and 210lbs right now. I'm at my happy spot and ~12% bodyfat. Here's what I do when I need to lose weight fast. I have to lose weight every so often, when I'm told to and I eat one meal a day-lunch, no breakfast, nothing after 1:00PM. It's tough but I would take sleeping pills right after I finished working out to sleep as my will power wasn't high enough to eat. Doing this I could get down to my 195lb "cut" weight in a few weeks. I have to basically starve and my muscle mass goes away pretty quick so I only maintain it for a week or so. The only suppliments I use are Creatine and Whey Protein. Other than that, low carb and not eating for a few hours before you go to bed and a little cardio/weightlifting goes a long way.

I say Body for Life also. Try it, 4 weeks. If you do not like it then quit. I am on it right now and I seeing results.
