Exhaust Housing Question

I recently sold my stock GN turbo and purchased a TE-44 with .63 exhaust housing. When I got the te-44 I noticed that the wastegate hole was ported to 1.25". I am still using the stock elbow and puck. What are my options if I still want to use the stock elbow? New elbow with bigger puck or can I just purchase a larger puck?

In order to fit a puck that large, you will need to port the heck out of the elbow area around it. I managed to install a 1.4" puck in a stock elbow, but it wasn't fun! With the TE44 you'll want, at the very least, a completely ported elbow anyway!

If you bought the turbo new, you can ask for the unported WG puck opening. If used, I'm sure someone offers a stock elbow w/larger puck. I'd get a 3" DP if possible to get the absolute most spoolup & power out of your 44. I love my 44.

Thanks for the info! I have a 3 inch downpipe coming off the elbow in my setup so spool up should be fine. Where can I purchase the large puck??? Also my setup isn't the usual te-44 setup.

Cool set up! Is that all custom? A TE44 should be a LOT of turbo for that car, I'd think!

Thanks! With the te-44 it should be good for over 400whp. The car weighs around 2400lbs now so if I can get it to hook up it should do pretty good in the 1/4. My buddy was trying to get me to use the 51 but that 60-1 wheel is pretty laggy.. especially on a 4 popper.

I've been reading everything you guys do and have learned alot! I really like the idea of adding alchy or propane. Thanks for all the knowledge!

I just had this same problem. A kid brought me a 44 he bought. The hole was 1.25 and he didn't have the money for a DP. I called Limit Engineering and talked to Bill. He said if it was a Garret housing he would swap for nothing! I got the new .63 housing all set with a .930 hole. They were Awesome! I've heard good things bout them here and I'm glad I tried em! Thank you Limit!
