well i just got a lt 3 inch dp on and i need to have my exhaust welded up and dont know if i should try and drive it the 15 minute drive to the shop. the car is stupid loud what should i do drive it or try to find a trailer?

Personally, I would drive it. Of course I have driven a big block car to the muffler shop with just headers as well.;)

I f you dont mind where did you get the dp from and how much, i am trying to get one as well. I wouldnt worry about the drive, it should not hurt anything it will be like running a dp with a dump.

I drove my 84 with only pipes (no cat or mufflers) and the exhaust was dumped at my rear axle for about 4 months. I thought it sounded pretty good lol. And i never got pulled over for noise violations. I would drive it. Harry

i got the dp from a board member used for somthing like 175 i think ? whatever it was i thought it was a good deal seen a few used go for more , i wasnt worred about hurting anything i drove the car 30 minutes to a shop with my atr dp but really dont remeber it being this loud
bryan youve got some balls i remeber how loud my dads chevelle was with open headers and cant imagine driving it on the street it was about twice as loud as my regal is now any ways i think ill just drive it ... see how it spools

on another note the shop im going to wont weld the test pipe in that came with the dp not even if they make it so i can put my high flow cat in and just swap them out at the track htey said it was TOTALLY illegal? so do you guy think it will hurt to keep running a high flow three inch cat ?thanks

Drive it. I drove mine for a year like that. Granted I was much younger and could tolerate it better but on the outside, these cars aren't that loud with open exhaust as long as you stay off the gas. Almost every GN I see here in Vegas is running around with open exhaust.

I have a brand new Lee Thompson 3in D/P with delta gate that I am looking to sell . Come's with mount to weld on crossover or wherever. $350.00 for both.

so should i put the test pie on or will it not be worth the trouble can i just run my high flow 3 inch cat

I would go with the test pipe (make it bolt in) and save the cat for emissions tests. It is up to you though. If you run the converter then it will need to be replaced at some point.

i would see if the shop can weld on some flanges or soemthing so that the test pipe can be bolted up in place of the cat. Let the guys install the cat, but allow you to be able to install the test pipe at home...It is only legal off road (racing application). It is illegal in all 50 states due to the fact that it is removing a major piece of your emissions, and plus, it is loud.

I have the Mease Pipe, which is jet hot coated and has the SS dump. I am putting an eletric cut-out on it so that when I do see the 5.0., I can throw the switch, and no prob!! That set-up from Keith Mease was $450, and mounts directly to the turbo, in place of the elbow.....It is a very nice piece!

Like I said, make sure when they put your cat on, they give you enough so that you can swap it in the driveway....Let them know you will only use it for racing...hehehehehehe.....
