has anyone bhought a stock D5 converter from a GM dealer? I could get one from a local GM dealer here in Finland with quite a good price and was wondering if these work well or not. I heard that they are not new but rebuilt. Is this right or wrong? Experiences please. thanks

Yes The GM conv are reman's, got a couple, seemed ok , I had all the codes for the GN conv (CBCF) I think , one I got was 300 rpm to low on the stall , I have heard other people getting the wrong stall also , so I went aftermarket after that .I was paying 150.00 a shot from GM

Thanks. What's the correct stall on D5 originally? Around 2400 rpm? Anybody else any experiences? I'd order a converter from Bruce right away, but with freight and taxes and customs the price would go so high, that I'd rather try to get the best possible I can from here.

You may want to look around your area for converter rebuild shops. I use a guy localy that rebuilds my D5's and restalls them for $80.00. US
